Theatre

A rapidly growing program supported by expanding stage and backstage resources, NSU Theatre offers audiences compelling productions from across the range of theatrical history and genres.

Music

The college’s vocal and instrumental ensembles, such as the orchestra, chorale, and pep band, present talented musicians from the NSU community to the public.

Dance

Providing a wide range of dance styles in professional performance facilities, the college’s dance program presents an original dance production each year.

Performing and Visual Arts Grant

To support talented theatre and music students, the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences offers a talent-based Performing and Visual Arts Grant. Students pursuing a theatre major at NSU, as well as students participating in the college's dance, art, arts administration, and music—as part of the NSU Sharkestra Pep Band, orchestra, or Bossa Nova Chorale—programs, may apply. This grant, awarded on a yearly basis, is available to current undergraduate students, incoming freshmen, and transfer students.

Pursue a B.A. in Theatre
In the theatre major at NSU, students learn to communicate effectively, identify historical theatre periods and styles, demonstrate knowledge of, and skill in, aspects of technical theatre such as costuming, lighting, set design and construction, demonstrate skill in public performance, direct theatrical scenes or productions, and understand the role of drama in culture.

Participate in the NSU Sharkestra Pep Band
The NSU Sharkestra Pep Band brings live entertainment, energy, and spirit to NSU home basketball games. The band plays jazz, rock, pop, traditional college pep material, and NSU school songs.

Participate in the Orchestra
The orchestra is a student group that provides a challenging opportunity for musicians to develop their talents, deepen their appreciation of concert music, hone their musical skills, and share their abilities with one another, the university, and the community at large.

Participate in the Bossa Nova Chorale
 The Bossa Nova Chorale is a vocal ensemble that performs an inspiring repertoire of choral music on campus and throughout South Florida. Participation in the Bossa Nova Chorale is open to all members of the NSU community.

Participate in Dance
The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will be offering a bachelor of arts in dance starting in the fall of 2008. The college's dance program performs an original dance production each year.

Participate in Art
The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will be offering a bachelor of arts in art starting in the fall of 2008. The program will focus on graphic design and studio art.

Participate in Arts Administration
The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will be offering a bachelor of arts in arts administration in the fall of 2008, providing students an overview of administrative issues in arts organizations.
