Theatre

A rapidly growing program supported by expanding stage and backstage resources, NSU Theatre offers audiences compelling productions from across the range of theatrical history and genres.

Music

The college’s vocal and instrumental ensembles, such as the orchestra, chorale, and pep band, present talented musicians from the NSU community to the public.

Dance

Providing a wide range of dance styles in professional performance facilities, the college’s dance program presents an original dance production each year.

Performing and visual arts at Nova Southeastern University include theatre, music, dance, visual arts, and arts administration. Major programs and courses are offered through the Division of Humanities in the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences. Extracurricular opportunities and partnerships with South Florida arts organizations provide many opportunities for the NSU community to explore its passion for performance.

The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences offers a rich variety of opportunities in theatre. Participation in NSU Theatre is open to all NSU students, faculty, and staff, as well as members of the local community.

Schedule

The Women of Lockerbie by Deborah Brevoort
NSU Theatre opened its third season with this drama, inspired by true events. The play followed a mother from New Jersey as she roamed the hills of Lockerbie, Scotland, looking for her son’s remains that were lost in the crash of Pan Am 103. She met the women of Lockerbie, who were determined to convert an act of hatred into an act of love by washing the clothes of the dead and returning them to the victim’s families.

Cinderella

The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will be offering a bachelor of arts in visual arts starting in the fall of 2008. The college's visual arts program will provide opportunities for students to showcase their talent through gallery exhibits of their work, including their paintings, photographs, drawings, graphic art, ceramic creations, and pottery.

The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will be offering a bachelor of arts in arts administration in the fall of 2008 and currently offers a minor in arts administration through its Division of Humanities.


Partnership with the Promethean Theatre

In 2006, the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences welcomed the Promethean Theatre as NSU's theatre in residence. The Promethean Theatre seeks daring and creative approaches to classical, contemporary, and new works that engage the imagination and inspire passionate discourse among its artists and the audience. The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences is a proud partner with the Promethean Theatre and other South Florida arts organizations that connect campus and community creative resources.

Partnership with the Ars Flores Music Group

NSU’s orchestra in residence, consists of a variety of South Florida orchestral musicians, with professional, conservatory, and gifted secondary school students performing side-by-side. The repertoire includes a wide variety of engaging and challenging works, including world premieres of new music.
