Human Resource Management
Description
The NSU master of science in human resource management, offered through the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, presents new perspectives on individual and group behavior, and provides insight into group dynamics and approaches for better management and motivation of employees. Through the curriculum, workforce issues, including organization restructuring, implementing a more effective communications system, solving intergroup conflicts, complying with affirmative action requirements, and training personnel to avoid skills obsolescence are met head on to provide insight into contemporary management challenges.
The overriding goal of the program is to prepare human resource and training managers and those in support services to enhance their organizations' effectiveness through the proper management of human capital. Students learn the importance of treating human resources as significant elements in the attainment of organizational goals and objectives. Additionally, students will participate in a learning environment that models human resource thinking by concentrating personal attention on their own professional development while using their work environment for immediate implementation.
Requirements
The Dual Admission Program in human resource management is open to both freshmen and transfer students. Candidates should pursue a bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a closely related field, including the prerequisite business courses. They must have a 3.0 GPA and a combined 1000 SAT or 21 ACT score (SAT/ACT scores are not required for graduates of the Florida Community College Honors Program with an associate of arts). A preadmission interview is not required.
The Dual Admission Program in human resource management normally requires four years of undergraduate education and 12 to 18 months of graduate study.
