The Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) is Nova Southeastern University’s far-reaching educational program for older adults. A department in the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, the LLI continues its strong role in the Broward County community by featuring faculty members from the college and other NSU centers, as well as prominent visiting experts in the humanities, sciences, health care, government, and other fields.
Through its unique, welcoming environment, the LLI fosters intellectual challenges, entertainment, and companionship. While structured classroom learning and field trips are the core of LLI programming, innovative projects and experiences also challenge members. These include activities with community organizations and diverse volunteer opportunities.
Intergenerational programs connect LLI members with the spectrum of the NSU student population. Through research projects and informal social activities, high school and college students learn about life as a healthy older adult while LLI members learn about issues that most concern the community’s next generation of leaders.
The Lifelong Learning Institute gratefully acknowledges the generous financial support of the Schmidt Family Foundation of Boca Raton, Florida, whose encouragement has made possible the continued success of this opportunity for lifelong education and lifestyle enrichment for older adults.
