A Message from the Major Chair
Welcome to the M.A. in Writing program at Nova Southeastern
University!
As major chair of the program, I work closely with students at every point in the process—from those who are first learning of the program and thinking about applying, to those who are polishing their theses and preparing for graduation.
I invite you to explore our unique program and contact me with any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Shanti Bruce, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor, M.A. in Writing Major Chair
Division of Humanities
Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences
Students enrolled in the Master of Arts in Writing program, within the college's Division of Humanities, build backgrounds in both professional and creative writing. The program allows students to further develop the writing skills that they acquired as undergraduate students and to develop specialized writing skills in areas such as business, technical, and journalistic writing.
The Master of Arts in Writing program's diverse range of courses enables students to explore a variety of creative and professional writing genres in small classes with faculty who are writers themselves. Faculty work to provide students with opportunities that go beyond the classroom, as well.
The college's Master of Arts in Writing program is offered during the evening on NSU’s main campus.
Thinking Ahead
An M.A. in Writing degree prepares students for careers in publishing, education, public relations, and advertising, as well as for careers as professional writers for magazines, newspapers, and businesses.
Students have been published in the Go Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale and Farquhar Forum magazines. Recent graduates have been hired to teach writing at the college level and as freelancers for a variety of publications.
Apply Now
If you are interested in a career in writing and would like to enroll in the college's Master of Arts in Writing program, you may apply now or browse the admissions information page for more information about the program.
