Nationally Accredited School Portfolio
Many adult students have attended trade or technical schools that are nationally accredited, such as AICS, NATTS, or others. Nova Southeastern University will examine and evaluate a student's learning experience to determine the acceptability of credits from these institutions. A staff member in the Office of Prior Learning will review transcripts with students and help identify courses that can be applied toward their academic goals.
If you have attended a school that is not accredited by one of the regional accrediting associations, you will need to submit the following information and documentation to petition to receive credit for learning experiences.
- Have an official transcript sent directly to Nova Southeastern University.
- Supply a course syllabus for each course that you wish to receive credit for, or supply the school catalog.
- Write an autobiography that is two to three pages in length. Your autobiography should include your professional background.
- Write a learning narrative for each course taken. Each learning narrative should be approximately one to one-and-a-half
pages in length, describing:
- what you learned
- how well you learned it
- what influence it had on you
- your instructor’s name, degree held, and any other qualifications
- a list of all textbooks used in the course
There is a $25.00 per credit assessment fee for evaluating the school portfolio. Expect approximately 4-6 weeks for the evaluation process to complete.
Upon completion of your portfolio, please submit to:
