CLEP, DANTES and Computer Science Test Outs
Testing programs allow students to demonstrate their knowledge in a variety of areas by taking an objective test in the apporpriate subject area. The College Board administers the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) that consists of five general exams and 30 different subject exams. NSU also administers 15 Defense Activity for Non-traditional Education Support (DANTES) subject exams. ACT-PEP exams are also offered. The New York University language exams cover 25 languages not available from CLEP and DANTES.
The general and subject examinations can be used to meet curriculum requirements in general education areas as well as major and elective areas. The advantages of these examinations are their reasonable cost, their accessibility, and the quick turnaround time in scoring.
Contact the Testing Office at (954) 262-8370, or 1-800-338-4723 ext. 28370, for specific registration details. Free sample tests are available for many of these exams in the Testing Office.
If you plan to take any of these exams as prerequisites for other courses at Nova Southeastern University, you must successfully complete the examination before registering for more advanced course work. Prior to taking any examination, please contact your academic advisor or academic program manager.
