Leadership Roundtable Scholarship Program

Dear Student,

The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences is proud to present the Leadership Roundtable Scholars Program. This program is designed for new students interested in scholarship, leadership, and service. The Leadership Roundtable Scholars Program is currently in its fourth year. Scholars are represented in the Honors Program, the Student Government Association, and in NSU Athletics. Scholars have also founded clubs and organizations, and presented at academic symposia.

Students enter the Leadership Roundtable program in the Fall semester of their first year at NSU and continue through Commencement. Scholars have made outstanding contributions to NSU, so we look forward to the contributions of future Scholars.

Thank you for your interest in the Leadership Roundtable Program. Please contact me for additional information.

Sincerely,

Joel Nemes,
M.S. Director of Student Development and Retention

Program Description

The Leadership Roundtable Scholarship Program offers motivated undergraduate students a unique opportunity to develop as community service leaders during their NSU careers. This small program selects ten students each year to study and develop leadership skills through academic, co-curricular, and service activities. Scholars are part of a four-year dynamic program of workshops, activities, and service experiences. They perform at least 20 hours of service-learning each semester and receive an annual scholarship package of $4,000 applied to their tuition, room, and board.

Leadership Roundtable Scholars work with faculty and staff to design and tailor programs to their talents, interests, and career goals. Each year, the program exposes Scholars to increasingly more complex and rewarding training and leadership experiences.

The first year is devoted to exploring campus leadership opportunities. By the second year, Scholars identify at least one campus and/or community organization to serve as their central leadership focus. In the third year, they define campus or community needs and develop and lead service projects to meet those needs. Finally, during the fourth year, scholars focus on community leadership projects related to their professional and career goals.
