Undergraduate Admissions

International Student Admissions

Nova Southeastern University welcomes applications from qualified international students. Students seeking a postsecondary education outside their own countries will find many opportunities available at NSU. They will join a diverse group of students representing these countries.

Requirements and Procedures

Admission to undergraduate (bachelor’s) degree programs at NSU is selective, and students who are admitted have demonstrated the ability to do university-level work. International students must comply with the general admission requirements as well as submit the following documents:

  1. A completed Nova Southeastern University application and a nonrefundable $50 application fee in U.S dollars.
  2. Students who have earned CXC or O level certificates (HSC and CAPE) must provide five passing scores in academic subjects and proof of secondary school completion. All secondary school programs, university transcripts, and certificates must be evaluated by Josef Silny & Associates or World Education Services, Inc. A “course by course” evaluation and the grade point average is required. For more information about this type of evaluation please refer to: www.jsilny.com or www.wes.org
  3. Students for whom English is not their native language must be able to demonstrate adequate English skills by submitting one of the following:
    • Proof of graduation from a US regionally-accredited high school.
    • Proof of English language proficiency with either a passing score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)--213 on the computer-based test; 550 on the paper-based test--or a passing score on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS*)--6.0 on the test module.
    • SAT verbal score of 480 or above.
    • College transcript with one “English Composition One” course at a U.S. regionally-accredited college with a C or better grade.

Admission decisions are made on a "rolling basis". Our Admissions Committee meets weekly, applications are reviewed as soon as all required documents have been received, and decisions are made within a week of your file being complete. Students are informed of the Committee's decision soon thereafter.

International students may begin undergraduate course work in mid-August or early January, and should apply at least 2-3 months ahead of time to allow for processing and evaluation.

Immigration Regulations

Typically, a student who wishes to pursue a full course of study at Nova Southeastern University must obtain an I-20 in order to apply for an F-1 (student) visa.  The Office of International Students at Nova Southeastern University will issue an I-20 when the following conditions are met:

  • Students must be officially accepted for admission to Nova Southeastern University, having met both academic and English requirements.
  • Students must indicate their acceptance for admission by submitting a $200 (U.S) tuition deposit.
  • Students must demonstrate availability of funds. For current standards please go to the International Services online chart. An original bank statement or orginal letter on bank letterhead is required.

As there are other non-immigrant visa classifications that may or may not permit study, we recommend that you contact U. S. Citizen and Immigration Services for specific regulations and restrictions on the type of study, if any, allowable under your visa classification.

Housing

The Office of Residential Life and Housing is dedicated to enhancing students' total education by providing and facilitating enjoyable on-campus living experiences. The office provides housing services, academic support, and opportunities to participate in a variety of academic, cultural, social, and recreational programs.
