TECH 1110 Computer Technology in the Information Age Credit By Exam

The TECH 1110 Technology in the Information Age challenge exam tests students on knowledge of the subjects stated below:

  • Basic microcomputer components
  • Basic operating systems and user interfaces
  • Word processing
  • Database management
  • Spreadsheets
  • Telecommunications

As a course textbook, the Division of Math, Science, and Technology uses Discovering Computers 2005: A Gateway to Information, Shelly, Cashman, and Vermaat; Course Technology 3rd Edition, 2004. This textbook can be used as a reference to help prepare for the test. However, since the exam is general, any computer literacy book may be used to prepare.

The fee for the TECH 1110 challenge exam is $45.00. Payment must be made in the form of check or money order only, payable to Nova Southeastern University. No cash. If the exam is passed, an additional fee of $45.00 will be charged to have the credit posted.

The time limit is 2 hours. Scoring takes 3-4 weeks. Appointments for tests must be made in advance. NOTE: The TECH 1110 challenge exam can be taken only once. To make an appointment, please call (954) 262-8374.
