MISSION

Nova Southeastern University complies with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. No qualified individual with a disability shall be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination in any activity, service, or program of the university solely by reason of his or her disability. Each qualified individual with a disability shall be provided with equal access to NSU programs and activities through reasonable accommodations.

Accommodation Procedure

  • It is the student’s responsibility to initiate the process for disability services.
  • Students requesting accommodations must complete the Student Intake Form and the Release of Information Form.
  • Students must obtain appropriate documentation which establishes the need for an accommodation and relates the current impact of the disability to the requested accommodation.
  • Upon receipt of the appropriate documentation and the completed Student Intake Form and the Release of Information Form, the request will be reviewed for eligibility. Additional information may also be requested if necessary.
  • Decisions pertaining to reasonable accommodations will be made by the Office of Student Disability Services, in consultation with academic program representatives and/or other university administrators.
  • Written notification of approved accommodations will be provided. Students may then notify faculty of the accommodations that have been approved, unless otherwise specified.
  • To ensure that reasonable accommodations can be provided in a timely manner, all forms and documentation should be received and placed on file in the Office of Student Disability Services at least four (4) weeks prior to the commencement of classes for any given semester.
  • If a student disagrees with the proposed accommodations, he/she has the right to appeal the decision. Additional information on the appeal process can be found in the NSU Student Handbook.
  • Students must submit documentation and the completed forms to:
